This 27x16 painting was painted on a framed mirror using gouche, spray paint and acrylic. Steve Armstrong was the lead singer in 70's and 80's rock band Gibraltar. I was the bass player in this band in the mid 70's Thanks to photographer Tony Schanuel for the refrence photo which was shot in the mid 70's
I have always loved the impressionistic style and have always desired to paint. At the beginning of the pandemic, April of 2020, I retired and began painting. I have no formal training. I am self taught, and have used online tutorials. I have found that acrylics work best for me, but continue to experiment with other mediums. I am an advanced self taught photographer since 2005, and now mostly use my photos as resources for my paintings. I believe it is important to have a personal connection with the subject of the painting. My early years as an artist were focused mainly on music.
