The renovation of the Majestic Theatre will be a half-hearted victory, if steps are not taken to preserve its next door neighbor. The Murphy Building, a grandly-ornamented Beaux Arts office tower, is quite literally falling down. Fortunately, the worst decay seems to be confined to the rear annex, which could easily be demolished while maintaining the more significant Collinsville Avenue facade. I have always loved the impressionistic style and have always desired to paint. At the beginning of the pandemic, April of 2020, I retired and began painting. I have no formal training.
