The renovation of the Majestic Theatre will be a half-hearted victory, if steps are not taken to preserve its next door neighbor. The Murphy Building, a grandly-ornamented Beaux Arts office tower, is quite literally falling down. Fortunately, the worst decay seems to be confined to the rear annex, which could easily be demolished while maintaining the more significant Collinsville Avenue facade. But whether any of this will ever happen seems very much in the air. Incentives to build office space in East St. Louis seem few and far between

I have always loved the impressionistic style and have always desired to paint. At the beginning of the pandemic, April of 2020, I retired and began painting. I have no formal training. I am self taught, and have used online tutorials. I have found that acrylics work best for me, but continue to experiment with other mediums. I am an advanced self taught photographer since 2005, and now mostly use my photos as resources for my paintings. I believe it is important to have a personal connection with the subject of the painting. My early years as an artist were focused mainly on music.
